BJP candidate claims EVM fraud

BJP candidate Kiran Kaur from ward number 12 of the Gurdaspur municipal council has alleged she received only 9 votes when around 20 family members voted for her.

Speaking to the media, Kiran Kaur claimed that she had won the elections but the Congress changed the EVM machines and captured the polls.

“Congress has cheated us. My family has 15-20 members but only nine were allowed to vote. The same thing happened with several people in my neighborhood. My neighbors swore that they voted for me, but nothing came of it. The EVMs directly went to their [Congress candidate's] house. They [dispensation] harassed us every day. My husband's kiosk was removed, they also forced me to step down, but I didn't. They even demolished the school I was teaching at.

Despite that, I had won but they changed the machines overnight and cast all votes to the Congress candidate, who as an independent had won only 18 votes last time.

I have always been winning ward 12 from the BJP. How is it possible that I got only 19 votes?”
