As fuel rates continue to rise in India, petrol price has crossed Rs 100 per litre in many cities spread across the country. Check the cities where petrol is now retailing over Rs 100 per litre.

State-run oil marketing companies (OMCs) hiked fuel prices on Friday for the 26th time since May 4. Both petrol and diesel are retailing at record high rates after a hike of 27 paise and 28 paise, respectively.

As fuel prices continue to rise in the country, petrol price has breached Rs 100 per litre in more than 15 cities in the country.

These cities are located in the states of Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana. Petrol also costs more than Rs 100 per litre in the Union Territory of Ladakh.

At present, the highest retail price of petrol is over Rs 108 per litre in Rajasthan’s Sri Ganganagar; diesel price in the city has also crossed Rs 100 per litre.

Mumbai is the only metro city where petrol price is retailing above Rs 100 per litre. After today’s hike, Mumbaikars are paying Rs 103.08 for a litre of petrol. Bengaluru is another major city where petrol price has breached Rs 100 per litre after today’s hike.

In Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal, petrol is currently retailing at over Rs 104 per litre. Petrol price has also crossed Rs 100 in Hyderabad. Meanwhile, the retail price of petrol has in Jaipur has crossed Rs 103 per litre.

Some other cities where petrol price has crossed Rs 100 per litre are Ratnagiri (Rs 104.47), Aurangabad (Rs 104.06), Gwalior (Rs 105.48), Jaisalmer (Rs 104.81), Indore (Rs 105.14), Guntur (Rs 102.80), Chikmagalur (Rs 101.06), Shivamogga (Rs 100.80), Banswara (Rs 104.68), Parbhani (Rs 105.63) and Kakinada (Rs 103.31).

Petrol and diesel prices have been rising rapidly in the country due to rising international crude oil prices. Experts are worried about the prolonged round of fuel price hikes as it has triggered a sharp rise in inflation.

One of the key factors behind high fuel prices are taxes levied on petrol and diesel. The Centre and state governments levy the highest taxes on fuel in the world. While many appeals have been made to reduce fuel taxes, no action has bene taken despite the rising economic burden on citizens.
