The BJP took a jibe at TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee after she moved the Calcutta High Court on Thursday to challenge the Nandigram election result.

In a tweet, Amit Malviya said, "How do you lose an election twice? First, at the hustings and then, like a sore loser, challenging people's verdict in the court. It would be fascinating to see Mamata Banerjee suffer the humiliation of Nandigram defeat twice over."

Mamata Banerjee had lost the Nandigram seat in the West Bengal Assembly election about a month and a half ago to her protégé-turned-adversary Suvendu Adhikari. The former Bengal minister had joined the BJP in December last year.

After the poll results were announced on May 2, Mamata Banerjee had moved the Election Commission (EC) of India, challenging the Nandigram verdict but the EC refused to order a recount.

The case is scheduled to be virtually heard by a single-judge bench of Justice Kausik Chanda of the Calcutta High Court at 11 am on Friday.

Suvendu Adhikari is now the Leader of the Opposition in the Bengal Legislative Assembly.
